What is Straight Forward Web Design: Our approach to web design is exactly as our name implies, Straightforward.

We design small business web sites with a logical layout designed to move visitors forward to the purchasing or contact page of your website.

The balancing act in web design concept:

Today, good web design is a little tricky.

You must design in a way that your visitor’s don’t feel like they have time traveled to the Internet "old west". You must also maintain the simplicity needed to move them through your site quickly but informatively so they find doing business through your website to be a pleasant and straight forward experience.

Lets face it, in today's fast paced business world things move at light speed. When a prospect visits your web site they are looking for something specific. If they don't find it fast, they may move on and never return. Now your prospect could be the competition's client!

Keep it simple...Keep it straight forward.

In our web design concept we take into account,

First: How well the design will seen by search engine crawlers. (Software designed to surf the web automatically to explore web sites and find the relevancy of their contents to the search terms used in a search query.)

Many people today don't realize that Search Engine company's have drastically changed the way they rank web pages for indexing in their databases in an effort to keep search results relevant to what the user is looking for.

For instance, One of the most important things to consider is that media like Flash® and a few others that are all the rage these days, is something that search engine spiders are not able to read at all. This means that if your web site navigation is done exclusively in Flash® it won't be seen by the spiders and this is a BIG problem! This is where our experience is of the most value to you. This issue among others is always at the forefront of our consideration when designing a web site for you. YES...you can use Flash®, in fact it is one of the effective design services we provide. But it's the knowing where and how that can make or break a new web businesses ranking in search engine indexes.

This is where good web design concept is a must.

Second: and most importantly, how easy it is to find the product or services a visitor is looking for during their visit to your site? Is your site strategically designed in a way that you will get your prospect to the "Contact" pages of your site? Did you know that color choices can make your site more comfortable for your visitors, and even be persuasive?

This is where S-F-W-D excels in our services to our client's. It is our job to know the things that make a difference. We work closely with you to get as much information about your business and your targeted demographic needed to tailor your web site specifically to the needs and behavior of your customers.

Take a second to look at the two examples of web sites I have linked to. The first is designed for optimal search engine indexing and visitor conversion, the second for maximum eye candy effect and is nearly invisible to any search engine not to mention a visitor is sure to get lost, frustrated and move on to better hunting ground, leaving this poor business out in the cold.

Examples 1. Optimal design -This design is an excellent example of a search engine friendly and user friendly design while incorporating enough cutting edge media to give it an up to date feel.

Example 2. Invisible design - This design is an example of extensive usage of cutting edge design media, but totally ignoring search engine rules of content and the ease of navigation necessary to get the customer to this businesses contact page or the check out line! It is sad to think someone paid good money for this design.

From those examples you should be able to understand the balancing act needed to create up to date cutting edge design without running off the search engine crawlers that have visited your site for indexing and the customers that you "might" have had.

Logical design:

We understand that potential customers are far too busy to spend a lot of time learning how to navigate your web site while simply trying to find out if your company offers the products or services they desire. Most visitors are left with a bad impression if they are forced to jump through hoops to contact you or get answers to their questions through your web site.

At the same time we understand that cutting edge media should be incorporated in web design to show your commitment to staying in the media main stream without saturating your layout with design that will make your web site invisible to search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN.

We accomplish all of these goals with Straight Forward simplicity when designing a small business web site aimed at producing solid results!
